Here are 8 steps to secure your Wireless Internet:
i. Begin by placing your WAPs as far away from exterior walls and windows as possible, then play around with signal strength so you can just barely get connections near exterior walls.
ii. Do not use default SSID and do not enable SSID broadcast.
iii. Use 128-bit WEP encryption, follow normal passphrase procedures.
iv. Restrict MAC addresses to PCs you own by establishing a MAC filter on your router.
v. Use OPEN or SHARED AUTHENTICATION
vi. Ban rogues WAPs.
vii. Limit number of users via setting just the right number of DHCP addresses for the number of machines you have running.
viii. If you are really concerned, go back to the WIRED network.
